Asheville City and Buncombe County schools have teamed up with local law enforecement to help parents dispose of unused medications before their kids head home for the summer, manning county-wide drop-off stations to collect the unwanted drugs.

Drop-off stations will be available at all Buncombe County and Asheville City middle schools, includingEvergreen Community Charter School and ArtSpace Charter School, from 7 - 10 a.m. Wednesday. School Resource Officers will be on hand to accept the unused medications and dispose of them properly.

Buncombe County Ingles stores are also handing out bright yellow “Drop Off Your Drugs” bags Tuesday and Wednesday with instructions on how to ditch household drugs safely, though the yellow bags are not required to drop them off.
