Police are warning you to you lock your car. This comes after seven reported car burglaries in Waynesboro last weekend. All of the cars were unlocked.

Last weekend's burglaries bring the tally to nearly 30 reported in Waynesboro this spring. Some people hit by the thieves say they never thought it would happen to them.

"I think there's nothing scarier than coming home and thinking somebody's been in your house or your car or whatever," said Ann Huie. She has lived in Waynesboro for a year and a half, just off of Pelham Drive. Last week, her son's car was broken into, right outside her home, after she says he accidentally left it unlocked.

"It's kind of a creepy feeling to think that somebody's ramblin' around, either in your residence or in your cars," she said.

Pelham Drive and Fairway Hills saw seven reported car break-ins last weekend. But it's not a new problem. Huie's neighbor Jim Pruett had a car broken into four years ago.

"We don't want it to happen again," he said.

Pruett says he now double-checks the locks to his car, and to his house.
