Leamington Mayor John Paterson says talks with Members of Parliament last week in Ottawa about food packaging deregulation went well.

He was the only mayor amongst a contingent of 20 who met with MPs over a two-day period on Capital Hill. Kingsville Mayor Nelson Santos and Tecumseh Mayor Gary MacNamara were unable to attend.

At issue is the federal government’s decision to repeal a law that regulates the sizes of packaged foods sold in Canada. The changes are part of the Conservative omnibus bill.
