Lori Stone sent an email on June 11 asking for donations to Democratic Assemblyman V. Manuel Perez’s 2014 campaign for supervisor. The 4th District doesn’t represent southwest county; that’s Jeff Stone’s territory. Lori Stone’s email could be a dig at Benoit for his support of Liberty Quarry, a now-defunct mining project strongly opposed by Temecula Valley residents and Jeff Stone.
Jeff Stone and Benoit have clashed recently on several items before the Board of Supervisors, including Benoit’s proposal to offer a tax incentive for older homebuyers to move to the county and a plan to use a county landfill to accept foul-smelling waste from a private composting site in the desert.
