The latest report from the DEQ found that carbon emissions produced within the state declined by 8 percent between 2005 and 2010.

Portland General Electric has been involved with the state’s efforts to transition to cleaner and renewable forms of energy. The Boardman Coal Plant is still in operation but scheduled to shut down by the end of 2020, said spokesman Steve Corson.
“We’re actively engaged when it comes to various efforts that can have an impact on carbon emissions overall,” he said. “We had our wind farm go online several years ago and we just recently announced an additional wind farm in southeastern Washington.”
