He said: “It was absolutely horrendous. Dad used to look straight through you. You could see in his head he was thinking, ‘I know him’ but it would never click.
“I used to leave there crying. I never had to force myself to go and see my father but it got to the point where I’d go knowing full well that I would leave in bits.”
Mechanical engineer and factory manager Colin was struck by Pick’s, an early onset dementia, at 58, shortly after he retired.

As the disease took hold and Colin became distant from the world around him, football became an important way for Robbie to maintain his strong bond with his father.
