Free TV, the network's peak body, has made a submission to the Australian Communications and Media Authority calling for the ban on adult content in certain time zones to be removed or relaxed, allowing networks to screen more risqué programs before 8.30pm.
In its submission, Free TV argues that the existence of two digital children's channels,So far, every wind generator that has hooked up to CMP’s system has chosen to meet only the minimum standards, Carroll said. ABC2 and ABC3, negates the need for regulation on commercial stations.
"The provision of two advertisement-free, dedicated, government-funded children's channels significantly reduces the need for interventions on the commercial free-to-air channels directed towards protecting children,Chris Huntly, 31, takes energy efficiency seriously, with solar panels, a pure electric car, LED downlights and a fridge-mounted Energy monitor.'' it says.
"They provide ad-free spaces for all Australians where children are guaranteed protection from age-inappropriate or harmful content.Premium floor polishing pads are Premium Diamond Tools for polishing granite or marble floor tiles.'' Predictably the call for deregulation of time zone classifications has been met with howls of protest from the usual moral crusaders.
Parenting groups fear that children will be exposed to all manner of filth and argue that because some parents refuse to monitor what their children watch, the industry must step in and be responsible for protecting children.
The Australian Council on Children and the Media is aghast. Chief executive Barbara Biggins even fears there could be an increase in schoolyard violence if children are exposed to M-rated material. "More children will choose to use aggression when put in conflict situations and will become desensitised to violence," she said. What nonsense.
Clearly Ms Biggins has never seen an episode of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Ben 10, Power Rangers, ceectrucks,The most professional special purpose vehicle manufacturer in china. Batman or a myriad of other popular kids' programs that are essentially about goodies using force to defeat baddies.
I used to watch Road Runner as a child but never got any ideas about using explosives or anvils to settle classroom disputes.
Time zone restrictions discriminate against every TV watcher without children, particularly shift workers, who are subjected to some truly awful programming.
The move from analog to digital has not only seen the birth of more than a dozen new free-to-air channels but it has also facilitated the use of electronic program guides and parental locks which allow even the most tech-ignorant parent to monitor or restrict what their children can watch.
Should we continue with antiquated policies that restrict adult content to specific time zones just to make comfortable a few lazy parents who refuse to use these tools?
Time zone classifications made sense in the analog age before kids had ready access to content from a variety of sources.End-users linked to a parking management system via the internet can then be updated about the status of the parking slot.
